What the Announcement Says
Outfits were introduced in the “Playtests Start NOW!” announcement on Steam, dated September 9, 2026. The announcement describes outfits as having gameplay differences rather than being only clothing. That playtest ran until September 16, 2026.
This is a single first-party source. No second independent source has confirmed a current outfit catalog or its effects. We report the claim, attributed to the developer, and nothing more.
Cosmetic or Gameplay?
Based on the announcement, outfits affect gameplay. That makes them part of your build rather than a visual choice. How large those differences are has not been verified.
An official Steam screenshot shows an item called Boxing Shorts on a reward screen. The image does not explain whether that item is an outfit or another kind of equipment. We list it here only as what is visible.
Outfits and Pre-Run Loadouts
The same September playtest added pre-run loadouts and changed equipment. Outfits arrived as part of that wider update. It is reasonable to expect them to be chosen as part of your setup, but the exact flow is not documented.
Older Demo builds did not include this system. Videos or reviews of earlier builds cannot verify it. Check the date of any source you read.
Why We Do Not List Outfits Yet
Our rule is simple: an outfit list needs at least two current, corroborating records. At the moment there is only the playtest announcement. Publishing names or bonuses now would mean guessing.
That also rules out a best-outfit recommendation. No outfit names, bonuses, costs or unlock conditions are included on this page. We will add them once the Early Access version can be checked.
How to Evaluate an Outfit in Game
When you meet outfits in your version, treat them like any other build piece. Read the description and decide whether it supports the hands you play. Then test it over several runs.
- What the outfit changes in combat or progression.
- Whether it supports your weapon and trinkets.
- How it is unlocked, and what it costs.
- Which game version you are playing.
Outfits in a Build
A build combines weapons, trinkets, tricks and, in newer versions, outfits and relics. Each piece should push toward the same goal. An outfit that rewards a different hand than your weapon may pull your build apart.
Our best builds page explains how to compare combinations without a tier list. The weapons and relics pages cover the related systems. Each page notes which version its facts come from.
Where to Watch for Updates
The best places to watch are the official Steam store page and the Steam Community hub. Announcements there are the most direct source for system changes. The developer's itch.io page also carries devlogs.
The Early Access version is planned for October 30, 2026. See the release date page for the current status. We will revisit outfits once the build is out.
What Changed in the September Playtest
Outfits arrived alongside several other changes in the same test. The announcement also described pre-run loadouts, equipment changes, rebuilt relics, seeded floors and a mid-run Trickster offer. Together these show a big shift in how runs are set up.
Because so much changed at once, older advice on builds may not apply. Outfits are one piece of a wider redesign. The relics, tricks and route guide pages cover the other changes.
How to Report an Outfit Correctly
If you want to share outfit information, include enough detail for others to check it. Note the game version, the outfit's name and its full description. Add how you unlocked it and any cost shown.
Screenshots of the tooltip are the most useful evidence. Send corrections to us through the contact page. Once two current records agree, we can add an outfit to this page.
Style and Setting
The Golden Caravan draws on Art Deco and the atmosphere of the 1930s. Its story is set in a casino ruled by feathered crime bosses. Outfits fit naturally into that crime-story setting.
The official press kit gives the broad visual style. It does not list outfits or their effects. Visual style alone should not be read as evidence of gameplay bonuses.
Outfits and Other Equipment
Outfits sit alongside weapons, trinkets, tricks and relics. Weapons shape attacks, trinkets add passive run effects and tricks change cards. Outfits, according to the announcement, add their own gameplay differences.
Until outfit effects are confirmed, plan builds around the better-documented pieces. Add an outfit once you know what it does in your version. Our weapons and trinkets pages explain those pieces.
What We Know vs What We Do Not
We know outfits were announced on September 9, 2026, as part of a playtest that ended on September 16. We know the developer described them as having gameplay differences. We know a second current source for their effects has not been found.
We do not know outfit names, bonuses, costs or unlock conditions in the current version. We do not know whether every outfit changes gameplay in the same way. Those answers will come from the Early Access build.
