What Trinkets Do
Trinkets change how your run plays without you activating them. The developer described slot rewards as passive modifiers for the run in a July 23, 2026 post. An independent Steam review of the Demo also describes combat effects from slot rewards.
Because they are passive, trinkets work in the background of every fight. They reward certain conditions automatically. That makes them the foundation of most builds.
Where Trinkets Come From
Slot machines are the documented source. Routes contain slot machines alongside enemies, according to a Demo player's report. The developer also planned the map around slot rewards.
Official screenshots show a slot machine filling the screen in a casino hall. Another shows a slot machine offering a card reward with Keep It and Reroll buttons. Read the offer on screen before you accept it.
How Many Trinkets There Are
The official Demo listing advertises more than 30 trinkets. The developer's itch.io page repeats that count, but it shares copy with Steam, so it is not an independent check. The figure applies only to the Demo.
The full game may have a different number. No complete list of names and effects has been verified. We will not publish a trinket table until current tooltips can be checked.
Trinkets vs Tricks
Trinkets are passive, while tricks are active card manipulation. A trick lets you change a card, such as its suit, at a moment you choose. A trinket simply applies its effect when its condition happens.
The two work well together. A trick can create the condition a trinket rewards. See our tricks page for the active side.
Run Modifier, Not Permanent Unlock
The developer calls trinkets permanent run modifiers. In that sentence, “permanent” means they last for the whole run. It does not mean they stay after a death.
Lasting progress comes from allies and progression shops instead. Our permanent upgrades page explains that layer. Keep the two separate when planning.
Synergies Matter More Now
A June 2026 developer post described reworking the game to make trinket synergies more consequential. That means combinations of trinkets should matter more than any single one. It also means older advice about individual trinkets may be outdated.
When choosing, ask whether a new trinket rewards the same hands as the ones you have. Two trinkets that support flushes, for example, push you toward the same goal. Our best builds page explains how to judge combinations.
Choosing Trinkets in a Run
Without a verified ranking, choose trinkets by how well they fit your run. Read each tooltip carefully. Then think about how often its condition will happen on the 5-by-5 grid.
- Does it reward hands you already complete often?
- Does it combine with your weapon or tricks?
- Is its trigger reliable or rare?
- Would rerolling, if offered, find a better fit?
What Is Still Unknown
No rarity table, drop rate, stacking limit or optimal slot strategy has been verified. We also have no complete list of trinket names and effects. Treat claims about these without a source with caution.
We will add a catalog once the Early Access version can be checked. Each entry will carry its version. Until then, the in-game tooltip is the best source.
Slot Machines on Your Route
Slot machines appear along routes, so getting trinkets is partly a route decision. The developer described planning the map around slot rewards and elite encounters. Choosing a path with slot machines means more chances to shape your build.
That has a cost when it means skipping other rewards. Weigh what your build still needs before deciding. Our route guide covers this in more detail.
Keep or Reroll
An official screenshot shows a slot machine offering a Healing Card, with buttons labelled Keep It and Reroll. That shows you can sometimes reroll an offer in the build shown. The number of rerolls and their cost are not confirmed.
When an offer does not fit your build, a reroll can be worth it. When it fits, keeping it is usually the safer choice. Read the offer in full before deciding.
Trinkets Across the Timeline
Trinkets have been part of the game since the earlier Demo builds. A June 2026 Demo review describes combat effects from slot rewards. The same month, the developer described reworking the game so trinket synergies matter more.
In July 2026, the developer described slot rewards as passive modifiers for the run. The September 2026 playtest then changed equipment more broadly. Check the version of any trinket advice before relying on it.
Reading a Trinket Tooltip
The tooltip is your only reliable catalog for now. Look for the condition that triggers the trinket and what it does when triggered. Then ask how often that condition will happen on your grid.
Some trinkets may reward specific suits or hands. Those pair well with tricks that change suits. Our poker hands page explains which hands exist.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are trinkets the same as relics?
No. Trinkets come from slot machines as run modifiers. Relics were a separate, suit-based system that was rebuilt in September 2026.
Can you reroll a slot machine reward?
An official screenshot shows Keep It and Reroll buttons on a slot reward. Reroll limits and costs have not been verified.
How do you get trinkets in The Golden Caravan?

How many trinkets are in The Golden Caravan?
The free Demo advertises more than 30. That count applies to the Demo, and no full-game total has been verified.
Do trinkets stay after you die?
The developer describes them as run modifiers, so they last for the run. Persistence across deaths is not confirmed.
Which trinket is best?
No ranking has been verified. Choose trinkets that reward hands you complete often and that combine with your other equipment.
